Wedding Elopement Locations
Here are a few of my favorite locations for an elopement ceremony.
Watson Lake
Watson Lake is the best kept secret in Northern Colorado. It is a quaint and rustic park that includes many large old cottonwoods, as well as a beautiful lake and the Poudre River. It is not fancy by any means, but it just has such a good feeling about it. The locals use it to fish a little and walk along the paths. Some seasons are prettier than others with fall being my favorite. But I really do love it anytime of the year! There are a few good places for a wedding there including a fishing dock that looks out across the lake, anywhere along the shore of the river, and a small walking bridge that I like to use because of the symbolism of crossing the threshold of marriage.
Horsetooth Pavilion
Horsetooth Pavilion can be rented in order to have exclusive use of it, or can be used by anyone without a reservation if it has not already been reserved. The stone arch makes for a good wedding location and the view out over the water is nice. A pass is required to stop at anytime at Horsetooth Park. They are easy to get at one of the kiosks.
Horsetooth Rotary Park
Horsetooth Rotary Park has been my most popular site for elopements and small weddings. There are a number of nice locations depending if you want to be tucked away somewhere a little more private, or if you want to be standing on the rock that overlooks the lake. There may be some hikers or mountain bikers in the area, but they are all always very happy and congratulatory to a bridal couple. There is a fee to park and use Horsetooth Park, but the kiosks make it convenient and the cost is around $6.
Collindale Golf Course
Collindale Golf course is your classic rolling fields of green grass in the warmer months and still beautiful in the cooler months. You do have to contact the gold course for permission to get married there and sometimes there is a fee.
The Keyhole at Devils Backbone
The keyhole at Devils Backbone is a beautiful place to get married, but don't consider it during the months of July and August because the rattle snakes like to hang out up there during those 2 hottest months of the year. But September through June is pretty safe even though it's not a bad idea to carry a walking stick as you hike up to the keyhole. The 20 minute moderate hike is popular but there are times, especially during the week that it would be more isolated. A sunset wedding there would make for gorgeous pictures!
Lions Park
Lions Park is along the Poudre River and has some rustic and pretty places to get married. There are many places along the Poudre river that make picturesque wedding locations. I would suggest that you take a drive to find which one suits you best!
